BGR Now Hosts 185+ Fanfics!

Happy Autumn (or spring as the case may be)!!

Thanks to the efforts of our talented writers and dedicated members of Bad Girls Riot, the board continues to grow and be a place where members can read Nikki and Helen fanfiction and socialize with friends. There are a number of new fics in progress in the Summer Love forum as well as in Chateau Larkhall. We are pleased to report that we now have over 185 stories on the board, with more being added regularly.

BGR is privileged to the recipient of the time and dedication our writers devote to creating their stories; the board simply would not be the same without their artistic efforts. And to the readers who take the time to leave feedback, you are to be commended, especially if posting does not come naturally to you. The writers do appreciate your comments.

Over the last two and a half years, BGR has matured into a worldwide community, active at all hours of the day and offering fiction not found elsewhere. We invite you to join us and read some of the best Bad Girls fiction on the net and experience the enthusiasm, playfulness and camaraderie of our members.

More Milestones at BGR

As we approach our second anniversary at Bad Girls Riot, we have accomplished a task that once seemed daunting, but has ultimately been successful because of the wonderful contributions from all of our members in some way or another. Whether through active participation, writing stories, submitting ideas or just showing up on a regular basis, our members are responsible for building the thriving community that we all enjoy. As a board, we have been extraordinarily blessed by the congenial and playful antics of our members in games and chat areas as well as the thoughtful feedback left for our talented writers.

Over the past year, we have reached several milestones that once seemed out of reach for a messageboard that was created to allow individual freedom for our members to determine their own level of participation. We have exceeded 600 members, and over 200 of those members have voluntarily made almost 90,000 posts. We currently have over 150 Nikki and Helen stories on the board, many of which are unique to BGR.

We are honored to have numerous writers who call "The Riot" their online home. Remember, it is through their hard work at keeping our fanfiction addictions satisfied that the love story of Nikki Wade and Helen Stewart continues to live in our hearts and minds. Feel free to thank a writer for their contributions to our community; they'll appreciate it!

Come join in the fun, the good-natured atmosphere and general muppetry of BGR. You’ll be glad you did!

New Nikki and Helen Fanfics in Progress at Bad Girls Riot!

Thanks to the creativity of our writers, our fanfiction library continues to grow and is now over 120 Bad Girls stories. We are blessed to have wonderful new additions to the board by Estraven, Lyn27, Crispaay, mollysgone, Ratz, Tukka22 and DKG!

On that note, writers of older stories are welcome (and encouraged) to post their stories with us to increase the size of our archives. Our mission is to create and maintain an extensive Bad Girls fanfiction library that is accessible to all members at all times. Your kind contributions to help the board achieve our goals are greatly appreciated by the members!

Community members, if you know of an older story you'd like to see on the board, and know how to contact the writer, please do so, or drop us a line at badgirlsriot@live.com and we'll attempt to obtain permission to post it.

Please come check us out at: http://s1.zetaboards.com/BadGirlsRiot/index. You won’t be disappointed!

Bad Girls Riot Celebrates One Year of Fanfics and Fun!

April 23rd marks the one-year anniversary of the re-opening of Bad Girls Riot. While we opened with an aura of uncertainty, we can safely say that we’ve moved on and look forward to a creative and productive second year. Our fanfiction library now stands at over 115 fics, and our membership is currently over 350 strong. Thanks to everyone for their support in making our first year a successful one.

We’re not planning any sweeping changes to mark our anniversary; we plan to continue on our mission to bring you original Bad Girls fanfic in a friendly environment. As always, your ideas and suggestions on how to improve the board are greatly appreciated.

To our many friends on the board as well as in the fanfiction community at large, we thank you for your continued encouragement and support.

Come join in the fun!

Why We Allow Lurking at BGR

BGR reached a milestone last week with our 100th Bad Girls fanfic posted on the board. We appreciate the writers who have generously chosen to share their stories with our members. Besides unrestricted access to the creative contributions of our writers, one of the things that most members appreciate about Bad Girls Riot is the ability for our members to choose their own level of participation and interaction on the board, including whether or not to leave feedback in our fanfiction threads.

As we have stated on the board, it has always been our contention that people come to fanfic message boards for a variety of reasons, and we should acknowledge as many of them as possible. Members who want to observe silently do so for their own reasons. Perhaps reading fiction is an opportunity for quiet introspection, a peek into a lifestyle that has seeped into a reader’s consciousness, but not to the extent that they wish to comment on it in an open forum. Some people are shy or reserved; some are intimidated by commenting in a second language. We should respect every individual’s right to decide for themselves whether to remain silent or participate. BGR has a diverse group of members and welcomes the presence of all members, regardless of their post counts.

That being said, writers do appreciate feedback from readers. It is gratifying and rewarding for a writer to receive acknowledgement that a reader has enjoyed their efforts; however, mandatory feedback given as a ‘price for admission’ to read a fic will never take the place of sincere, thoughtful comments left by a reader who has been affected by a particular story. We are grateful to our members who take the time to leave written encouragement to our writers, but such comments will always be optional at BGR.

*** Help Haiti Fic Update *** Thank you for your continued support of the Help Haiti project. So far, $850.00 has been given to various charities for the benefit of Haitian relief efforts and has resulted in several new stories and several more in progress. You can find these fics at BGR and also at:

Your generosity is a win-win for both Haiti and the BG community. Kudos to all who have participated in this worthy project!

BG Writers Raise Money for Haiti Disaster Relief

On January 12, 2010, a 7.0 earthquake devastated Haiti, causing catastrophic damage in a nation already among the poorest in the world. In order to bring attention to Haiti's plight and encourage donations to disaster relief organizations, several Bad Girls fanfic writers have offered to write custom ficlets in exchange for donations to charity. Details can be found by clicking here or the link at the top right of the blog.

We wholeheartedly support the initiative of the writers to use their talents to entertain readers while helping others in need. BGR thanks the Bad Girls Community in advance for supporting these writers in such a worthy project.
